Welcome to my research page
I am an optical oceanographer from Belgium with fundamental and applied expertise in remote and in situ optical sensing of marine particles, from phytoplankton to sediments. My pluridisciplinary research is situated at the interface of marine optics, biogeochemistry, and ecology in a changing climate.
I have a scientific background in Applied Mathematics (MSc., 1997-2002) and Marine ecology (MSc., 2002-2004) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium. I obtained my Ph.D. in Physics from the Université du Littoral - Côte d’Opale in France (2012). I was a postdoctoral fellow at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego (2012-2014), held a Banting postdoctoral fellowship at Laval University in Québec (2014-2017), and currently hold a Marie Sklodowska Curie fellowship at the Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche-sur-Mer, Sorbonne Université/CNRS in France (2017-2019).
